What this is
At around 16:27 on July 28, 2026, an earthquake struck with its epicentre in the Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture (the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake, magnitude 7.1, maximum seismic intensity 7). CAMPFIRE launched this official emergency relief fund in response, running it themselves.
Where the money goes
The entire amount raised, less payment processing fees, is to be delivered to affected municipalities and similar bodies as relief money. The specific recipients are to be selected by the Japanese Red Cross Society and others once the extent of the damage is established, and reported on the project page.
